About This Trip

This is an 10 Day / 9 Night mission trip to Latvia.
This team will visit Day Center.

This trip is open to individuals across the United States. Join this Orphan Outreach team as they travel to Latvia to minister and share the love and hope of Christ to children and families living in the Naval Port near Liepaja. The team will be serving during the children's fall break when they are out of school. Join this trip and experience priceless ministry time as well as devotional time with other team members.

About Latvia

Latvia gained independence from the former Soviet Union in September 1991. From 1991 on, Latvia has been experiencing a transition period, from state-controlled economy to market economy. As with many Eastern European countries, Latvia has thousands of orphan children, most of which are social orphans. These children are victims of abuse and/or the financial situation in Latvia. Orphan Outreach has over 8 years of experience with ministry partners in Latvia. Latvia is a beautiful Eastern European country that has many Christian elected officials.

Team Leader

Zachary Nyhuis, Senior Pastor at Gowen Bible Church and Ministry Volunteer

When Zachary was 13, while at a mission conference at church, he dedicated his life to the Lord to use as He saw fit. Zachary thought this meant going to medical school and then working with orphans in medical missions. God saw fit to have another plan for his life. However, through Orphan Outreach he has been able to fulfill one of the desires that God planted in his heart at a young age, to work with the orphan and outcast. God has also planted a desire to work with the people of Latvia.

The team will stay in hotels close to the ministry sites. The land cost is based on double-occupancy rooms with bathrooms. If you would like to have your own room, there will be an additional cost and please email missions@orphanoutreach.org.

Worried about finances?

Orphan Outreach Mission Trip Baggage Policy

All mission trip participants are responsible for the cost of their checked baggage. When traveling internationally, most airlines allow passengers to carry two checked bags at 50 pounds maximum. The cost of checked baggage depends on where you are traveling and your status with the airline. For the most up to date baggage allowances and fees, please check with each airline you are traveling on.

Occasionally we may ask trip participants to carry humanitarian aid and items needed for ministry in country. To save the cost of having to pay for the second bag on the return flight home, you can stuff a bag inside your other bag. Please ask before leaving behind a bag in your country of service.
