About This Trip

This is an 10 Day / 9 Night mission trip to Latvia.
This team will visit Naval Port Day Center.

Join Orphan Outreach and First Baptist Lancaster in serving children and families of the Day Center near the Naval Port in Liepaja, Latvia. Children are out of school during the summer, so this team will spend quality time building relationships and sharing the love of Christ through word and deed, while also ministering to the staff and local families. To read more about Orphan Outreach's ministry at the Day Center, go to http://orphanoutreach.co/countries-we-serve/latvia/day-center.asp.

About Latvia

Latvia gained independence from the former Soviet Union in September 1991. From 1991 on, Latvia has been experiencing a transition period, from state-controlled economy to market economy. As with many Eastern European countries, Latvia has thousands of orphan children, most of which are social orphans. These children are victims of abuse and/or the financial situation in Latvia. Orphan Outreach has over 8 years of experience with ministry partners in Latvia. Latvia is a beautiful Eastern European country that has many Christian elected officials.

Team Leader

Candace Stark, Ministry Volunteer

Candace has a LMSW and has worked at CPS for 31 years. She has been a CPS caseworker and supervisor and for the past 14 years, she has served as a Program Director overseeing staff in several counties in Texas. Candace has traveled to Latvia 6 times since 2007. She is a member of First Baptist Church Lancaster and in 2013, FBCL began ministering to the children at the Naval Port Day Center in Latvia. Candace has participated in those mission trips each summer.

Accommodations

The team will stay in hotels close to the ministry sites. The land cost is based on double-occupancy rooms with bathrooms. If you would like to have your own room, there will be an additional cost and please email missions@orphanoutreach.org.

Orphan Outreach Mission Trip Baggage Policy

All mission trip participants are responsible for the cost of their checked baggage. When traveling internationally, most airlines allow passengers to carry two checked bags at 50 pounds maximum. The cost of checked baggage depends on where you are traveling and your status with the airline. For the most up to date baggage allowances and fees, please check with each airline you are traveling on.

Occasionally we may ask trip participants to carry humanitarian aid and items needed for ministry in country. To save the cost of having to pay for the second bag on the return flight home, you can stuff a bag inside your other bag. Please ask before leaving behind a bag in your country of service.
