About This Trip

This is an 7 Day / 6 Night mission trip to Guatemala.
This team will visit Down Syndrome School, CCC, Hope & Future, Love the Child.

Join Orphan Outreach and First Baptist Andrews in serving children and families in Guatemala. This team will be serving at Orphan Outreach's long-term ministry partners: the Down Syndrome School, Community Care Center (CCC), Hope & Future and Love the Child. Come share the love and hope of Christ through Bible teaching and spending time with children Orphan Outreach serves.

About Guatemala

UNICEF estimates that are over 370,000 orphans in Guatemala. Many of these children come from families facing extreme poverty; 70 percent of people in Guatemala live below the poverty level. Orphan Outreach ministers in Guatemala by partnering with local orphanages, churches, and Christian schools for children in extreme poverty situations. We also make it a priority to come alongside the Guatemalan nationals and work with them as they serve their own people.

Team Leader

Cobi Porter, Ministry Volunteer

Cobi lives in Andrews, TX, with her husband and four children. For the past several years, she has spent her day homeschooling and mothering. During high school, Cobi felt called into mission work. Cobi graduated from Baylor University with a degree in Social Work. She spent 6 weeks as a summer missionary in Canada after graduating from high school and has traveled to Mexico, Venezuela, and Guatemala on numerous mission trips; as well as participating in local mission work through her church. It thrills her soul to be the feet that bring good news and to see the work of God among the least of these." She is so thankful for the privilege of working with Orphan Outreach to help other believers spread their wings in ministering to children around the world.

Chris Etheredge, Volunteer Leader

Chris serves as the Pastor of Administration, Education, and Missions at First Baptist Church in Andrews, TX. He and his wife Laura Beth have two children. Chris has a heart for sharing God''s Love and Truth both at home and around the world. God called him to ministry in high school and to the mission field in college. He attended Texas A&M University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, where he graduated with a Masters of Divinity in International Church Planting. He has served in a number of countries, including the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, the Philippines, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Burkina Faso, as well as Guatemala, where he met his wife, Laura Beth, who was also there doing ministry. Chris and his family served for 3 years with the International Mission Board in the country of Zambia, where he taught at the Baptist Theological Seminary of Zambia and assisted with various rural Bible schools. He is thankful for the opportunity to get people involved in ministering to the needs of others and seeing them develop a passion for expanding God''s Kingdom.

Orphan Outreach Mission Trip Baggage Policy

All mission trip participants are responsible for the cost of their checked baggage. When traveling internationally, most airlines allow passengers to carry two checked bags at 50 pounds maximum. The cost of checked baggage depends on where you are traveling and your status with the airline. For the most up to date baggage allowances and fees, please check with each airline you are traveling on.

Occasionally we may ask trip participants to carry humanitarian aid and items needed for ministry in country. To save the cost of having to pay for the second bag on the return flight home, you can stuff a bag inside your other bag. Please ask before leaving behind a bag in your country of service.
