More than 250 people attended the 7th annual Women for Orphans Worldwide (WOW) “Be the Change” luncheon in Dallas, Texas to hear what a difference the WOW Dallas-area auxiliary members are making for orphans and vulnerable children in Guatemala. Donations made at the luncheon will be used to positively impact the five WOW-supported programs transforming the lives of hundreds of children in 2016.At the luncheon, testimonies were shared by high school students Ella Varel and Alessandra Tilley about their personal experiences serving in Guatemala, and Orphan Outreach President Mike Douris challenged the group by sharing his own testimony of one orphan’s life forever changed by the love and care she receives at Little House of Refuge in Xela.Keynote speaker Aixa de Lopez inspired the audience with her own story of orphan advocacy and adoption, and encouraged WOW members to stay the course. And “Love to Serve, Serve to Love” awards were given to six area students for their outstanding work on behalf of global orphan care.Women for Orphans Worldwide supports Little House of Refuge in Xela, Hope & Future in San Lucas, Amor del Niños in Antigua, Down Syndrome School in Guatemala City, and the Ravine families of Chimaltenango. 2016 will see WOW’s first venture into program development in Guatemala as they actively participate in the launch of a community program for the children of the Ravine families. If you'd like to know more about Women for Orphans Worldwide, contact Tiffany Taylor Wines at email@example.com.
